What To Expect From a Clinical Exercise Physiologist
Unlike physiotherapists, our clinical exercise physiologists work with you to implement hands-off treatments that support both your mind and body. At your first appointment, our fully qualified exercise physiologists will review your medical history and assess your needs in order to develop a bespoke treatment plan. Throughout your time in our care, this treatment plan will be regularly reviewed to ensure it is still meeting your needs.
Throughout the following sessions, your physiologist will administer the exercise regime and nutritional guidance outlined in your personalised care plan. Alongside this, they will support you to make behavioural modifications that will aid your recovery and boost your mood.
Ultimately, your sessions are about achieving your goals. Whether that be to live without pain, lose weight or nurture your mind and body, the experts at EPA Health are here to help.
We Provide Suitable Exercise Interventions Across a Range of Conditions
An exercise physiologist is an expert in understanding how the body responds and alters as a result of muscular activity. Using this knowledge, they can devise tailored exercise programmes that can address a wide range of health and rehabilitation needs. As well as using exercise for traditional rehabilitation work, such as improving range of motion or building muscle strength, exercise physiologists also use tailored exercise treatments to improve cardiovascular health, treat stress or trauma-related mental health symptoms (such as anxiety, muscle tension, or insomnia, assist in the control of chronic diseases such as respiratory disease, diabetes and circulatory problems as well as work on a host of other difficulties.
Exercise physiologists can work with people of all ages, abilities and levels of fitness. From professional athletes to people with significant disabilities or those suffering from poor health, an exercise physiologist can provide suitable exercise interventions.

The team at EPA Health has developed rehabilitation programmes that are specifically tailored to meet the needs of veterans. We recognise that many veterans have rehabilitation needs that are different to those of patients without a military background. For example, many of the veterans we treat suffer from PTSD-related symptoms (such as anxiety or insomnia). Our rehabilitation takes account of these issues - every part of our process is geared to meet the specific needs of veterans. You can access veteran rehab at one of our clinic locations across the Gold Coast, or our exercise physiologists can travel to any health club where you feel comfortable.
If your GP is prepared to complete a D904 referral form for you, we can provide your DVA allied health exercise physiology at no cost to you. We are a registered provider for DVA patients - if you've got a Gold or a White card, we can usually provide customised exercise physiology treatment and veteran rehabilitation on the Gold Coast at no cost.
